Tricia Berry, our Broadening Participation Director and the head of the Women in Engineering Program here at UT, will present a training next Thursday, June 28, from 9-10am in the Microelectronics Building 2.114 entitled STEM Role Models Matter: Engaging Girls (and all Kids) in STEM through Role Model Interaction. An opportunity for you to receive additional training in the role model space. We highly encourage all of you to attend who have an interest and are active in our outreach efforts.

BiasBusters Workshops at UT Austin are modeled after the BiasBusters@CMU and Google’s Bias Busting@ Work programs. Workshops explore how we all experience unconscious biases and stereotypes and use relevant and real life scenarios to foster discussions. Workshop participants gain a deeper understanding of their own biases and learn strategies for being a “Bias Buster” to intervene in bias situations.
This week's seminar will feature Smart Material Solutions. Nichole Miller, Senior Scientist and Stephen Furst, CEO, will present on their company's patterning technology. "Ultrasonic Nanocoining: Taking Nanopatterning from Academia into Industry". They will present a novel nanopatterning methodology which is specifically applicable to certain roll to roll applications.
The 2017-2018 IAB Meeting will be taking place this March at UT Austin. Events will begin the evening of the 6th (5:30 pm to 9 pm) beginning with 1 min. shotgun pitches from students, prior to a poster session and dinner, and end the afternoon of the 7th.
Southwest I-Corps is offering a regional NSF I-Corps program to facilitate the commercial evaluation of academic research and innovation, and develop eligible teams for the national NSF I-Corps program and a $50,000 I-Corps team grant. During the program, teams will be introduced to the fundamental I-Corps principles, helping teams explore the potential value of their research or innovation, and quickly and effectively validate their commercialization strategy.
The NASCENT IAB Meeting will occur on January 16th and 17th.
